Kate, go back and re read your thread from the start. If JWs were what they claim to be, this website wouldn't exist.
God isn't calling you to the JWs, that I can guarantee. The feelings you're having are natural, they're not from god. Do you think god would make you think of death enough to plan you funeral? I think not.

100 things I learned from watching "The Prodigal Son" DVD
by Perversion of a truth inthese are things that were said or insinuated, i start with the first 15.

1. working for a corporation in the city makes you fall out of the truth.. 2. if you become inactive or leave jehovah you will make your whole family sad and ruin everything.. 3. all worldly people cheat.. 4. all worldly people curse.. 5.

So out of touch...
Would normal parents not be happy and proud of their son for getting a real job instead of accepting a job from daddy, moving to the city on his own and meeting a pretty girl? That should make any parents proud. Every problem this kid has is cause by his JW brainwashed upbringing.
I can sort of relate.. Not to the same degree, but after moving out of ma parents' house at 20 life hit me like a speeding bus. I trusted too much, had no idea how to handle money or people. It took me years to learn lessons that were kept from me with my sheltered JW upbringing.
This thread is true, though. The thoughts it tries to convey are clearly written by a group of extremely disconnected, sheltered people.
What a joke.

Lol how is this thread still going?
QC has been so hard headed and ignorant throughout this and other threads, there's no hope of him backing down now, even though he's clearly wrong.
Hey QC, where's the earth-shattering effects of this book's having finally disproved evolution? Because... If evolution is wrong, we have to rewrite most of the work that has been done in several fields in the past few decades. We'll have to take many medicines off the shelf, scrap all biology textbooks and glad material... Basically start all over again. Understanding and proving evolution helped us as a race understand so many things, i.e. germs/viruses and has saved millions of lives.
You are asking for soft tissue fossils from billions of years ago.. Not gonna happen, sorry. Effectively what you are doing in this discussion is ignoring a mountain of evidence against you, then asking for evidence that does not and will not exist, claiming that it is necessary to prove you wrong. You are IGNORING (are ignorant of) a huge amount of evidence which is as valid as the day it was presented.
You cannot win, you are making a fool of yourself.

Stoning sinners to death
by jws_rock inso we've adopted the refusal of blood transfusions given how the bible clearly states it's a sin to reintroduce blood into the body once it has been shed; however, why don't we still stone sinners to death (just the really bad ones) like they did in they did when times were purer?.

Thanks Blondie! I have a question for you though..
Did the Roman leaders have to be convinced to kill Jesus just for his apostasy, or just to kill him in general? I thought the Romans had a habit of nailing people to stakes crosses anyway?

Welcome to the board!
Why just the really bad sinners? If we are to really follow the bible like in purer times, we should stone all apostates, homosexuals, children who talk back to us and people who gather sticks on the sabbath.
See? Black and white reasoning can lead to some pretty extreme ideas.
And remember, Jehovah of armies hates violence!

The wold needs another Sagan!
Not many people of his level of intellect and knowledge can communicate with regular humans, let alone in an interesting and exciting way.
Krauss tries, but he still speaks like everyone is a physicist.

Introduction and a note on several posts here
by LizO inhey people,.
as for myself, after extensive study i have concluded that it's not possible for me to trust the bible and so i am not active anymore.
however, let me please add something to the discussions here:.

Welcome LizO!
I only disagree with one point you made... You may want to learn more about mind control. It can be much more subtle than you think, take on many forms, and be called many different things.

My Jehovah's Witness broke up with me :(
by jws ina few months ago, the jws came knocking on my door (see thread).. this discussion continued and the next time she brought a man along with her.
i told them that i'd study with them if they could prove to me god exists and the bible was his book.
for our next visit, only the man showed up.

I'd say you did some good. Especially since you had some time between discussions for everything to sink in. You can't expect him to suddenly give up a lifetime's worth of beliefs, but a seed had to have been planted.
